What I tried: Matcha Sugar Bun, Pineapple Coconut Ube cake & Banana Coconut Latte.
Located in the gorgeous Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver.
Unique flavors for all their pastries and desserts. Italian inspired café with an Asian twist of flavors.
Very aesthetically pleasing and catches the eye upon arriving to the location.
Quality coffee and food available all day.
Great place to grab a bite on a lunch break or just while you are walking about the city.
They also have gifts, cards, bags and other local items for purchase while you are there.
They are well known for their sugar buns. Try any of the flavors and I am sure you will not be disappointed.
The word on the street was for me to try their Banana Coconut Latte. It was amazing, so you have to try this!
Besides the delicious sweet treats, they also serve pizzas, premium pastas, paninis and other delicious items throughout the day,
The service was great. It was a very busy that morning and I did not expect to be talked to for a long time. They were professional but friendly and also recommended the banana latte when I did not know what to order.
The Matcha Sugar Bun was pure perfection. Have you ever had a sugar bun and the filling was first of all not filled enough and also the taste was blah? Well this is the total opposite of that. Minimal bun and maximum cream filling is how I would describe it. The matcha filling was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet but had a powerful matcha taste with a hint of bitter. The bun itself was soft and very fresh. This sugar bun was also big in size and I had to eat them in halves. Perfect for a little treat a little later.
The Pineapple Coconut Ube cake was divine. This treat was a little sweeter than the sugar bun however it is also smaller in size making it great to have with your coffee or espresso. I ordered this because it looked gorgeous and was very inviting. Purple, yellow and white colors glistened from the showcase. I had to try it. It was amazing as all the flavors listed were prominent. The pineapple and coconut went great together and ube was subtle yet added a great element to the cake.
Now for the main reason I was told to visit this café, the Banana Coconut Latte. I ordered this with minimal sugar as the desserts were sweet enough for me. The latte was absolutely creamy and thick. The banana flavours were prominent yet not overpowering. It complimented the coconut and basically was a liquid version of a banana bread. Give this a try when you are there!
From the moment you are outside the hotel/café, you will fall in love with the décor and bright yellow colors this café has chosen to display. A giant "G" with a Vespa sit outside the café. When you step inside, the hustle and bustle of the morning rush will not distract you from the layout and beautiful décor of the café.
This is a great place to do work, catch up or just sit at the window seats and people watch for the day.
When I find myself in Vancouver City again, I will definitely stop over at Giovane again as there were so many more things on the menu I did not get to try!
