Yang's Tea Latte with grass jelly (Regular -$5.50) & Marble Boba Tea Latte with tapioca (Regular - $6.00)
Another great Bubble Tea addition to the ever growing one in Toronto. Moreover, this teashop is all local and is from Toronto itself.
Organic ingredients and tea leaves imported from Taiwan gives this tea shop a unique twist.
The way the tea is steeped is also different and gives each drink an extra punch.
Anything on the menu really. I got the two most popular items as I was alone and could not try more.
Their custom drinks, tea lattes, milk teas and fresh fruit drinks are what you could choose from. With the custom drinks, you can choose from 12 different types of tea leaves then customize the toppings, dairy options and sizes. You will get exactly what you need.
I did not know what to order so I resorted to their Instagram page to look for photos as to what I wanted. The cashier was very transactional and did not seem to offer much help.
The Yang's Tea Latte was delicious and had a strong milk tea flavor. It was also amazing tasting and not too sweet. It reminds me of the strong black tea with milk you can get in Hong Kong or anywhere in South East Asia. It was delicious and the grass jelly added an extra special flavor and texture.
The Marble Boba Tea Latte was also just as good. The brown sugar syrup they use for the flavoring is also what they use to make the tapioca. It was very syrupy and velvety and is similar to the brown sugar from Okinawa. The Tapioca has the perfect chew to it and compliments the drink perfectly.
They also your locally sourced organic dairy products for all their teas. You can get their tea's iced or as a hot latte.
The process of steeping the tea's is intricate here. They are rinsed through a machine just like how coffee is put through an espresso machine. This ensures the tea and blends to be extremely fresh. As my favorite is a black tea base, both my drinks had a regular blend of tea.
A plus with Yang's Teashop is that they make a "Tea Boss Nitro Latte". This is similar to the process of making a nitro coffee. A specialty tea is infused with nitrogen gas and is stored inside a tap.
Although the shop is small, it was extremely bright and inviting. Its floors and walls were of a light colored wood and had a very cozy feeling to it.
Right in the heart of downtown Toronto, this is a perfect spot to sit and people watch. A few bar seats to the right of the shop and one window seat with two chairs available.
Yang's Teashop is not your average bubble tea shop and because of this I will be returning there every time I find myself in Toronto. Give it a try!
